1. What is the Download & License Center (D&LC)?
The Download & License Center is a web interface that allows license administrators (and authorized license administrators) to manage their licenses and to download the software.
It allows a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week access to licenses and download software.
2. How to access the Download & License Center (D&LC)?
The link to the Download & License Center is below:
https://harrisgeospatial.flexnetoperations.com/control/xlsv/login
3. Who has access to the D&LC?
Only license administrators (and authorized license administrators) can access the D&LC interface.
License users - who are not administrators - will not have access to the D&LC interface.
When an administrator is logged into the D&LC, they can see the name of the account in the upper right corner of the D&LC window.
4. What are my login details to D&LC?
As license administrators (or authorized license administrators), you should have received a Welcome email that includes your login to D&LC as well as a link to create/reset your password.
Note that the login and password to the D&LC interface are different from the login and password to the Harris Geospatial Solutions main website. You will need to create a new login even if you already have an HGS web account.
5. How to download the software from D&LC
License administrators (and authorized license administrators) can download the software from the D&LC homepage:
https://harrisgeospatial.flexnetoperations.com/control/xlsv/home
There are 2 ways to access the download options:
- In the section Recent File Posted, click on View All: it lists the recently released products for the company, including licensing instructions, patches and release notes.
- In the section Browse my software and documentation, click on Harris: it lists the available downloads per product (ENVI or IDL).
Select the file you want to download and click on Download Selected Files.
6. How to access my activation codes and licenses?
The list of Activation codes (entitlements) for your company is available under:
https://harrisgeospatial.flexnetoperations.com/control/xlsv/searchLineItems
You can search activation codes per Maintenance ID (MNT-xxxxxx) or Activation Code (set of 16 characters separated by "-" 4 by 4). These details are available in your Order email.
You can also search by Catalog Item ID (i.e. Product Number available in your invoice) or Catalog Item Name (i.e. name of the product such as IDL).
The Searching tool supports the wildcard "*" flag.
7. What are the details available in my activation codes?
Maintenance ID: unique identifier of the maintenance contract associated to the product. This ID is available in the Order email.
Catalog Item ID: or product number, i.e. the unique reference of the product in our customer database. This code is usually listed in the quotation/invoice.
Catalog Item Name: name of the product.
Available Qty: quantity of licenses associated to the given contract.
Activation Code: 16-character code that can be used to activate the product described by the Catalog Item Name or ID. This code is available in the Order email
Order Date: date when the order was processed.
8. How to retrieve my Activation codes or Maintenance ID
Activation Codes and Maintenance ID are included in the Order emails sent to the administrator. These emails are saved in the D&LC interface and available from the link below:
https://harrisgeospatial.flexnetoperations.com/control/xlsv/viewEmails
This email list also includes the Welcome Email with the account login.
9. What happens if Maintenance is not renewed/Expired?
Only current Maintenance Contracts and Active Codes are displayed and available for use on the Download and Licensing Center. If you do not renew your maintenance contract, it will not display. You can contact your listed maintenance representative through the below link for further assistance.
https://www.harrisgeospatial.com/Company/ContactUs.aspx
10. What to do if you cannot see your Activation Code/Contract on the D&LC?
If you cannot see your activation code it could be that it is either tied to a different license administrator, group or company or the maintenance has expired which in turn will inactivate the code. The D&LC only displays current and active licenses. Please contact your listed Maintenance Rep or Technical Support through the below link.
https://www.harrisgeospatial.com/Company/ContactUs.aspx
11. Can I use the D&LC to transfer/rehost my license?
No, a license transfer should only be completed by deactivating the license from the machine on which the license is currently active, and then by reactivating the license on the new machine.
See Deactivate/Activate license section in the online documentation
https://www.harrisgeospatial.com/docs/routines-169.html
12. Understanding Permission levels in D&LC
Only License Administrators or Authorized License Administrators will have access to the D&LC to obtain Download links and License activation codes.
In the D&LC interfaces they are listed in the menu Administration > Account Members.
13. Understanding the List of ACTIVE Computers and/or Servers
The D&LC lists the devices (machines with node locked licenses) and license servers for your company from the menu Active Licenses > By Computer or Active licenses > By Server.
Each machine is identified by the Computer/ServerID where the 12 first characters correspond to the MAC address of the machine.
The Alias, when available, corresponds to the machine/server hostname. It may include offline machine if the machines have not been activated using the standard online process.
Note that the term Active Computer & Servers does not mean there is currently an active license on the given machine. It only means that the specific computer/server had been used to host a license from your company and the license may or may not be still active on the given machine. The Active status is discussed in point 14.
14. What does ACTIVE vs RETURNED Device/Server means and when should I use the RETURNED option?
An ACTIVE computer or server does not necessary mean that there is an active license on the given computer. It means that the given Computer/server has been used to host a license for the associated company and cannot host a license that belongs to another company.
The Status can be changed to RETURNED (for Computer only) using the Return Computer option. However, note that this option will "blacklist" the Computer so that the computer can no longer activate a license.
This option should not be used to transfer a license in any way (see question #11)
Returning a license server is not currently possible. Please contact Technical Support for assistance.
If you used the Returned option by mistake and the Computer is blacklisted (no new licenses can be activated on it), please contact Technical Support for assistance.
15. How do I know if a license is currently installed on a given machine/server?
The fact that the status of a Computer/Server is set to Active does not mean that the license is currently running on this machine (see question #14).
To check that there is an active license on a machine, select/search for the machine in the list of Active Computer/Server.
If there are no products shown in the “Add-ons” list, it means that no licenses are currently installed/active on this device.
If there are some products listed in the Add-ons list and the status is “License Generated”, it means that a license for this specific product is currently installed on this device. If the status is different, it means that some licenses are not yet installed on the given machine. In this case, the machine needs to connect to the D&LC by activating or deactivating a license which will update its status.
The Quantity of active licenses is available in the Units Mapped area.
16. How can I check if there are available licenses on one of my contracts?
The quantity of available seats for a given contract and product can be checked using the following steps:
- in the list of active Computers or Servers select any active device
- then click on Map Add-ons and search for a specific contract ID (MNT-XXXXXXX)
- if the contract is not listed it means there are no remaining seats for it
- if the contract is listed, you will see the total number of seats of the contract in the column called Total Units in Line Item, and the number of available seats in the column called Available Units in Line Item, for each product.
17. Can I use Map Add-ons and Return Add-ons options to transfer/rehost a license?
No, Map Add-ons or Return Add-ons does not allow to deactivate a license form a given machine or server so this option SHOULD NOT be used to transfer a license (see question #11). We recommend to never use those options from D&LC but to rather contact Tech Support if you need help to manage your licenses.
18. What is an Order email?
An Order email is an email sent from harrisgeospatial@flexnetoperations.com and delivered to the administrator of a license that contains your license Activation Codes. The subject line of the Order email will include the Maintenance contract ID of your license.
