BOULDER, Colo., October 27, 2008 – ITT Visual Information Solutions (ITT VIS), a business of ITT Corporation, announced the release of IDL 7.0.4, which provides support for the Macintosh Intel OS X 10.5 64-bit architecture. This additional platform support provides Macintosh Intel 64-bit users with access to the modern, IDL development environment, the IDL Workbench, introduced with the benchmark IDL 7.0 release.

IDL 7.0, released earlier this year, introduced the new IDL Workbench, a modern, cross-platform software development environment built on the popular Eclipse platform. The IDL Workbench, compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX operating systems, features a plug-in architecture that allows the greater community of IDL and Eclipse users to conveniently share application components, or plug-ins, and extend the functionality of IDL.
