I am a new ENVI user. I have used the NDVI and Tasseled Cap vegetation indices that are built into the ENVI program on my images and everything worked fine. I want to use a few more, but when I tried using the vegetation index calculator on my images an error message kept coming up. The error message says "wavelengths must be defined to calculate vegetation indices." I am not sure what I am supposed to do to get the vegetation index calculator to work.

The VI calculator and Veg analysis tools calculate the indicies and veg products based on the spectral bands contained in the input file. So wavelength information must be defined in the image header in order for the tool to determine which indicies and products can be generated. To define wavelengths in your image header, go to File ->Edit ENVI Header ->Edit Attributes ->Wavelengths.
