Hello everybody,   I am a new ENVI user and have my problems with the first steps of preprocessing and calibrations. I have some Landsat-5-TM and Landsat-7-TM Data (L1T-Type / L1G-Type) and my aim is a change detection map for nearly 20 years of landscape development.  My question is now, which preprocessing steps are necessary and which are already done as a standard from Landsat? Thank's for all answers and a nice week for all.

L1T data are orthorectified (Terrain corrected) data while L1G are georeferenced (not terrain corrected) data.  I would suggest you first calibrate your datasets to radiance or reflectance.  Then you will need to register the images to each other so that you are getting the spectral values from the same pixel locations in all your datasets.  You might use Automatic Registration: Image to Image for this.  Use the terrain corrected data as the 'base' and register the georeferenced data to it.
