Whenever a tiff file is created by ENVI (eg. classification result), I can't open it in any other software. What's up with this? Is there some setting I can change? I can workaround by saving it as another file format but this is very annoying.

How are you creating the TIFF file? Are you using File ->Save File as from the File menu or are you saving the file from the display using File ->Save Image as? All files output from an ENVI process are ENVI format files so they must be converted to TIFF using one of these methods.

Ha - that explains it. I thought since my inputs were tiffs and it was letting me call my output xxx.tif, I was creating a tiff file. Nope! Thanks mminari!
