I am trying to import Hyperion L1R data using Hyperion Tools. I am getting the following error: "HDF_SD_SELECT: Unable to select the HDF-SD dataset (SDINTERFACE_ID)." What does this error mean and what is the solution for this error?

The Hyperion Tools on the ITT VIS Code Library web site were created by Devin White, who was, at the time, an ITT VIS employee, but has since left the company.  Because this code was created on his own, and not as an official ITT VIS product, ITT VIS can't support it.  Which means that you would probably need to contact Devin and ask him to debug and fix the code.  I'm afraid that all of the tool on the ITT VIS Code Library web site are like that.  They are tools and code that someone wrote to solve some ENVI or IDL problem for their own purposes, and then thought other people might like to use, so they shared it with the community. I'm sorry that I don't have better news for you. Peg

I'm getting sporadic reports of the same problem from other people.  USGS may have arbitrarily decided to change their L1R format.  If so, I will add support for the new format to Hyperion Tools.  I'm also finishing up a new version of Hyperion Tools (2.0), which will be faster and have a few more features (like a programmatic interface).

Hi Devin, I was wondering what the latest status on this was?
