    Hello there, I would like to calculate the occurrence measure of variance (lets say by 3x3 window) but only within the specified area, without considering the masked-off pixels. The ENVI's built-in option provides the edges with the extremely higher variance values because of the consideration of masked-off pixels. Thank you in advance M.

    Hi M, ENVI doesn't allow masking during the calculation of occurrence texture measures.  You can tell, because when you choose the input image, there is no Mask Band button listed at the bottom of that dialog.  That is where you would specify your mask band, if one were allowed. ITT VIS tech support would be able to help you log a feature request for this. Peg
