Hello, I just tried to load an ERDAS (v.2010) .IMG file into ENVI 4.7 an get an error message 'Error reding ERDAS file: Compressed ERDAS files are currently not supported'. However, teh ITT website says compressed ERDAS files are supported: http://www.ittvis.com/Pro...e/en-US/Default.aspx I am confused... anyone knows how to best get the file into ENVI? Thanks Karl

Hi Karl, I was confused as well but did find out that ENVI 4.7 does 'support' opening ERDAS compressed files but only with ENVI Zoom and ENVI EX. ENVI itself has not been updated with this support. However, if you open the file in ENVI Zoom and then choose to open the file in ENVI, it will send the file to ENVI. You will then get the message that ENVI does not support compressed ERDAS files which you can dismiss. Then the ENVI Header dialog will open and you can 'Cancel' this and the file will open in the Available Bands List. Once opened, you can process this file like any other in ENVI. Kind of a funky approach but this is the only way it works for now. Ciao

Thanks area_51, that did the trick! BTW: I followed your intructions and got to the Available Bands List, as you said. Here I select a band and click Load Band, and get an error message saying: Read error from file .img "READ_GDAL: Expression must be a scalar or 1 element array in this context: RFACT." The result may be invalid. I click OK, the Display and Zoom windows stay blank, but the Scroll window displays a bunch of stripes, so I am not sure if it loaded correctly. I go to File > Save File > ENVI Standard, save it, and voila! - there it is, looking fine!
