Hello list, I have an inquiry regarding the process of destriping Hyperion lever 1R data in ENVI after import and replacement of anomalous pixels. I wonder if you can actually use the destripe function in ENVI or SPEAR tools for global adjustment of each line to the band mean and variance. I do not really know what is the algorithm behind these functions as I couldn't find any specific info in help. I will appreciate any kind of advice. Cheers, Vaclav

There is a toolkit in the ITT VIS Code Library for Hyperion. It will help destripe the data. Do a search for Hyperion in the Code Library to find this toolkit.

O.K., thanks, well I know about the toolkit, that helps you to remove the bad lines defined by the flag mask, however even after that the image is vertically striped. Now both the destripe and the spear tools get rid of the stripes, but does anyone know what are the algorithms behind these tools? In the literature there is an algorithm which uses either global or a local neighborhood band mean and standard deviation to adjust all of the lines. No I don't know if the tools in ENVI are simillar or not at leas to the global method... Thanks, Vaclav

Hi Vaclav, I have the same problem related to vertical striped in hyperion images. Did you get some information related to the algorithm used by ENVI SPEAR algorithm? How did you solve the problem? regards, Paul
