Hi everyone
I have one question how can calculate Nitrogen index from ASTER data. Also I looked the help of ENVI but there is different between wavelength of Nitrogen equation and ASTER wavelength. I want to use vegetation indices for landscape. Please tell me how can make Nitrogen equation in ENVI? If who help me about this problem I will be appreciated. If another data is necessary please tell me.
Normalized Difference Nitrogen Index
NDNI=log(1/p1510)-log(1/p1680)/ log(1/p1510)+log(1/p1680)
Sincerely Yours, Hadi Fadaei

The equation states that you need two bands - one in the 1510nm range and one in the 1680nm range. ASTER does not have bands in these ranges. The 1656nm band may work but there is no band in the 1500nm range. It looks like this index is based on fairly narrow spectral bands so you would need other data that has narrow spectral bands in these regions to calculate the NDNI.

Dear Kitty
yes its right but which data has this range of wavelenghts? also i asked somebody for land use is better to analysis NDNI as above equetion.

A hyperspectral instrument such as AVIRIS, CASI, ASIA or Hyperion would have these wavelengths.
