My feature extraction on a 5 band image fails. Same image with 4 bands works fine. Symptom is that the layers section only shows band 1 in grayscale, although the data manager shows all 5 bands. Scaling produces one (big black) segment. The first clue that it won't work is that the preview pane reveals nothing, even after several minutes of calculating statistics. I will try the 5th band as a mask instead, although I read that might not work either. Would appreciate any words of wisdom to help with using this tool. Of note is that the 5 band image is float, and the 4 band image is 16 bit integer. Don't see a way in the envi gui to specify output data type on layer stacking, so if that's the problem I'll just find another way. Thank you. It sounds like ENVI is misinterpreting your 5-band image somehow as a single-band image when you try to choose it for Feature Extraction. I don't think the problem is the data type. Feature Extraction should work on any data type. Is this an ENVI format file? How was it generated? This is the type of problem that you may want to submit via ITT VIS Technical Support (support@ittvis.com or (303) 413-3920). It sounds like you may need to send in your data for testing, in order to track down what is going wrong for you. - Peg
