i have a thematic map that has been digitized into tif format. I am attempting to reister the map to geographic units of longitude and lattiude. To do this in ENVI i use the map ---> registration ----->select GCP's image to map. I set the registration projection to geographic lat/lon. The location of the GCPs i am using is the intersect of latitude and longitude values i.e. my map is of Guyana so one of the points i use is -2 lat and 61 long (degrees). However when i plot 3 or more gcps the prediction values and RMS values shown in the list convert from numbers to xxxxxxxx. I have attempted several times but this still occurs and i think i have followed the ENVI help insturctions carefully. Does anyone know why this is occuring? Thanks

Is the image south of Guyana because I don't show Guyana in the southern hemisphere, which you have specified with a latitude of -2. You will get ****** type values in the table if the GCPs are not well distributed and if any of the coordinates of the GCPs are off in comparison to the others. Also be sure that the image coordinates associated with the map coordinates look different and correct. It can sometimes happen that you update the GCP map location, but not its corresponding image location thus assigning different map locations all to the same pixel location in the image. If none of these appear to be the issue, you might want to contact ITT VIS Technical Support directly.
