I am using ENVI 4.7. I creat a new datum for my study area. After that I created new map project and used new datum. But when I changed map project from UTM map project system to map project system, a envi error appeared, that is " Reprojection Error: Coordinate system is not set" and many errors followed it. I creat new map project with parameters: project type: transverse mecator projection datum: new datum (elipsoid WSG 84) false easting:500000 false northing:0 latitude:0 longtitude:99 scale factor:0.9996 Help me please!

I am not sure how your new projection is different from a UTM projection with a zone and a WGS-84 datum. You can get this error if you try to reproject the file into a location where the file doesn't actually have any data. For example, to warp an image taken in the US to an area in Europe. The transformation will fail.

Thank for replying! The zone is the same zone 47 North, only change from international project to national project. You can try it with datum with parameter: LOCAL, WGS 84, -192, -39, -111. After that, you can creat a map project with parameters that I posted before. Local project is very important to me. Thank so much!

I think this is probably a matter of setting up your custom projection incorrectly. If you are using a custom datum, then you will need to use the name of that datum that is used by the ESRI projection engine. You can find that name by going to the following tech tip: "ESRI Projection Engine Reference" http://www.ittvis.com/ser...echtip.asp?ttid=4455 . . . and clicking on the link to the ENVIPEDatums.txt file. There you can search for a datum that has the characteristics you need. If you cannot find your datum in this list, then that probably means that the datum is not already recognized by the ESRI projection engine, which is very rare. In that case, you would want to check out this tech tip from our web site: "How to add a datum that is *not* supported by the ESRI Projection Engine to ENVI" http://www.ittvis.com/ser...echtip.asp?ttid=4514 If none of these tips help you, then I strongly recommend that you contact technical support, so they can take a look at your image and projectoin information, and help you work out how to set things up correctly for your dataset. You can reach them at support@ittvis.com or (303) 413-3920. Or by contacting your local ENVI distributor. I hope this helps, - Peg
