I am a graduate student working on a classification thesis project using WorldView-2, IKONOS, and Quickbird from different years. I need to atmospherically correct each image before I can begin processing, and my advisor suggested using Dark Subtract. I've tried this method using band minimum on the WV2 image with the full scene, and all 8 bands, but the output pixel values were all the same. The values did, however, change significantly when I used a small subset of the image, but how do I apply this tool to the entire image? I'm aware that there can be no No Data values in my image, so I've also tried subsetting the image to an ROI that includes my study area (all pixels have values) just in case, and still no luck. Thanks, Matt

Did you calculate statistics on your subset to confirm there are no 0 values? If you calculate the stats on the subset imagew (with no background values), you should be able to see the band minimum values. Then you could use these in Dark Subtraction with the 'User value' option.

Yes. I found the lowest value to be 35 in band 8, so I subtracted that from the image, but the data values (cursor location/value tool) for the subtracted image are the same as the original, and there is no apparent difference between the images. Does that sound correct? I am new to ENVI so I may just be overthinking this problem. Thanks.

I am not sure what might be going on. If I use ENVI's sample dataset 'qb_boulder_msi' located in the C:\Program Files\ITT\IDL\IDL80\products\envidata directory in Dark Subtraction and just select 'band minimum', I get an output image that has different values than the input image. I don't really see how you can enter a band minimum value that is subtracted from the data and have it return the same image value. You might try contacting ITT Technical Support directly so that they can look at your dataset.

Ok I'll try that if my advisors can't determine the problem. Thank you for your help.
