Does the data come in HDF format? I believe that MISR is primarily stored in HDF but there could be other formats. You can open HDF files using FIle ->Open External File->Generic Formats->HDF. This should provide you with a list of data files contained in the HDF file. You would select the data files that contain the image data you wish to display.
