Hi All,
Can anyone help me out on the best and most simple way of extracting point elevation from satellite images. I would like to draw a profile line over a path on the image and extract the elevations along such path. thanks

There are many ways to get the elevation values from an image. For a path, I would probably use the Tools->Profiles->Arbitrary profile (transect) from the displayed image. You can then draw a line across the image and it will create a spatial profile of those pixel values. You can then save this to ascii or a spectral library.

You can extract a profile of the pixel values for any type of image. But a SPOT5 image does not itself contain elevation. A DEM would be required to extract elevation.
