Hi folks, I have a digital terrain model that I would like to run a basic classification on (two topography classes), but I'm not sure if I can do it with Envi. The help it says there's an additional module for creating DEMs that you can purchase, but this DTM is already made, so I'm not sure if I still need that module. This DTM came to me in a file format I'm not completely familiar with. I know this is a pretty nebulous question to ask, but can Envi load and classify DTM files? The file structure for the DTM houses a .ovr, .ovr.enp, and .aux.xml files in the main folder, then in a sub-folder houses several different .adf files and one metadata.xml file. ArcMap 10 just recognized it all as a single DTM and loaded it with all the appropriate geo-referencing and scale parameters, but Envi doesn't seem to recognize most of those file formats, and loads the .ovr file extension as a tiny thumbnail without any of the geographic information. Thanks in advance.

This sounds like it is an Esri GRID file. Try loading the hdr.adf file into ENVI (5?). You are correct - if it is already a DEM/DTM then you do not need the DEM Extraction module which is intended to generate a DEM from a stereo pair of imagery. If you want a classification image of just two classes, I would suggest you use the Raster Slices (in ENVI Classic known as Density Slice) or the Decision Tree classifier.
