Hi,
As SPOT doesn't have a blue band, can you confirm whether the SPEAR relative water depth tool automatically substitutes the green and red bands instead of blue and green? Or is SPOT imagery not suitable for use with the SPEAR RWD tool.
Thanks in advance,
Conor.

Are the .pro files for the spear tools stored in the ENVI folder? I can't seem to find them to look at it in IDL, only .html that shows you what you would see in the helpfile.

I believe the tool expects a blue band. If you pass a file with no blue band, it will prompt you to select a blue band from the list of bands present in the file. You can choose another band and it will provide you with a result but it's accuracy may be questionable.
ENVI routines do not provide the source code, so you will not find the .pro for these routines.

Thanks for the reply.
Are the SPEAR tools the only ones that are locked or are all ENVI routines restricted? It would be very useful to know what was going on. This isn't only an issue for SPOT imagery, Landsat 8 has two bands that you could specify as the 'blue' band, and the results are quite different between the two, inverted elevation changes in some cases.

I am afraid all of the ENVI routines are in compiled .sav files. There is a reference in the ENVI help that describes the methodology behind the tool:
Stumpf, R.P., K. Holderied, 2003, Determination of Water Depth with High-Resolution Satellite Imagery Over Variable Bottom Types, Liminology and Oceanography, 48(1):547-556.
The methods were developed using IKONOS and Landsat-7, so I would use a blue band in a similar spectral range - i.e., band 2 for Landsat-8.
