I have a question about the fuzzy tolerance and calculating the left and right border for the S-type membership function. If I use the default fuzzy tolerance as 0.05, how the left and right borders for “LT”, “GT” and “IB” can be manually calculated. For the value of less than (LT) 16.881, How can I calculate a and c for left and right borders? In case of “IB”, I have an attribute with a range of [-0.2569, -0.1082], how should I calculate the a for left border and f for right border? Thank you.

This is a very specific question. It is probably best if you contact technical support directly so that they can consider your specific case.

My guess is that the upper and lower bounds are taken from the cumulative distribution function (cdf) based on the histogram of the attribute of interest. So value 'x' lies %'y' on the cdf, then the values 'a' and 'b' are +- 5% on the cdf. Josh
