I have some limited knowledge regarding ENVI. I also used only ENVI classic before. Using 5.2, I have several hyperspectral images. I opened them all in ENVI 5.2 (it's nice compared to classic where you have to open a new display for every single one). Took me a while to figure, that when I use ROI, I must also select the image I want the ROI to display in. Anyway, my question is, once I create a set of ROI from every image (some images might have 2 of them), how can I "combine" them? Basically I need 2 sets of ROI's, one for "good" roads, and one for "bad" roads, coming from several hypespectral images. I mapped these roads using ROI, and will be using either Min/Max classifier or Support Vector Machine. However, as mentioned the ROI's are under each image. When I do the classification, I want to use the spectral signature of all my ROI's which I made for "good" roads, then all the signatures of my ROI's I made for "bad" roads. I also assume I need a 3rd ROI set for "others" which will include houses, trees, lakes, etc. Thanks! EDIT: I just realise I might have to "tile" the images I work on. Basically take all 8 .img files and make 1 big one (ENVI 5.2 looks like it does that when I have the ability to open all 8 in one display, but I guess they are still very much separate). Is there a tutorial available how to "combine" into 1 .img file if I have to do so? Cheers!

ROIs in ENVI 5.x are created based on map coordinates for georeferenced images. This makes them easy to port to other images that cover the same geographic area. If you have two images displayed in two different views, you can simply drag the Roi from one View to the other View and the ROI will show up on the same location. If you like the way the images are 'tiled' in the display then you can use the Seamless Mosaic tool to create one single image.

Thank you for the reply. I think Seamless Mosaic is what I am looking for. However, after I input my files, the end result is only a blank file (0kb) if exporting to ENVI format, or just a black image if exporting to TIFF.

It sounds like you will want to mosaic your 8 images together first, before creating the ROIs. You can do that in ENVI 5.2 using the Seamless Mosaic tool in the ENVI Toolbox. Peg Exelis VIS

There a preview option in the Seamless mosaic. Does this also show a blank output? If you right-click on the mosaicked file in the View and select Quick Stats, does the dataset show min/max values of 0? If the file is 0kb, it sounds like it did not really complete the mosaic process. Do the images already have a defined projection system? You can find this information by right-clicking on the file and selecting View Metadata.

Thank you for your support guys. When I first tried it, it was on a portable HDD on a computer where I was not the administrator. Upon trying this at home (admin and internal HDD) the Seamless mosaic worked as intended. All the scenes were attached. Only problem was that in the Mosaic tool, I had to add 2-3 scenes at a time, otherwise it would freeze the program and I had to force-close it. I have used all default options, except specifying the output file. Hoping this will preserve all the data as the original images. The original images are geo-referenced and fit perfectly, including the borders.
