Hello everyone, I have several TSX EEC scenes. I want to calibrate these geocodeddatasets to Sigma Naught in SarScape: Since I am new to SAR data processing:Is it possible to calibrate geocoded data to Sigma Naught? In SarScape I only found the combined"Geocoding and Radiometric Calibration" tool. This toolresults in NaN data for the whole output dataset. Is there a way to do the radiometriccalibration on geocoded data in SarScape or (if its even valid to doso) do I have to do it in IDL by extracting the constants from the XML files and proceed with the formulas provided here: http://www.geo-airbusds.com/files/pme... Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Niklas

Hi Niklas, You cannot use SARscape's Geocoding and Radiometric calibration tool to calibrate already geocoded TerraSAR-X data such as GEC and EEC products. I think there may be another way to calibrate TSX EEC data in SARscape. I'll look into it and get back to you. Peg Exelis VIS

Hi Peg, thanks for replying. I have already written a tool in IDL to calculate beta and sigma naught from geocoded data. I have used the formulas provided here: http://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct... I used the simplified expressions on page 4 (formula: 8). This does not include the correction with the NEBN/NESZ values. However it is stated that: "NESZ is specified in [1] between-19dB and -26dB. For this reason the noise influence can often be neglected, depending on theconsidered application." In my results a considerable part ofthe values are between -19 and -26 dB. Is my calibration incorrect? How big might be the differences? Thanks a lot for any insights from anybody! Niklas

I'm afraid that I was mistaken that there was another way in SARscape to get the sigma nought for TSX EEC datasets. The developers did intend to have a tool that would do that, but there is a but in the current version that prevents it from working. There may be a patch to the current version within a month or so, which will fix this issue. - Peg Exelis VIS

What you are doing sounds reasonable to me. - Peg Exelis VIS

Dear Peg, thanks a lot for looking into that! If somebody could elaborate on the question what drawbacks this simplified calibration (cp. my post above) has, I would be very happy. Niklas
