    Where does the equation relating the extinction coefficient to visibility shown in the FLAASH tutorial at https://www.exelisvis.com/portals/0/pdfs/envi/Flaash_Module.pdf come from? I am referring to the equation: V=3.912/ ß

    This is a basic equation in meteorology called the Koschmieder equation. For example, you can find its derivation on a Wikipedia page for Visiblity: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visibility. It is also discussed in many atmospheric science textbooks. - Peg Exelis VIS
