Hello!
I am working with the S2a MSI products available from the ESA Data Hub. They are in jpeg2000 format. When I open them using the xml file in ENVI 5.3 i have mistake "File does not appear to be a valid JPEG2000 file"
Can you please give me some guidance? Thanks!

Hy,
have you managed some how the error? Dou you have the invalid raster error also in ArcGIS when you are trying to open the j2 files? I am occuring the same error in Windows 10. In windows 7 it seems to work fine, for me is working fine, but I have to work on the win 10 computer so I have to managae that error to.
Did you find any help?
The SNAP tool from ESA is not getting me any image.
I thinnk it is an OS error, but I don't know which one can be.

I have seen this error caused by a couple of reasons:
1. The file names are too long. This is a known issue on Windows systems and discussed in this article:
https://earthobservation.wordpress.co...
To fix this, you can try and move the file to the root directory (e.g. C:\) or rename the directories to shorter names.
2. Check the XML file to see how many granules it references. I have found some datasets (from the USGS) reference many granules but only include one in the distribution. To fix this, edit the XML to only include the granules included with the dataset.

Hi Mari, I'm having the same issue when I try to import Sentinel 2-A data. I've shortened the path names (E:\Sentinel\temp) and have removed unused granule references from the xml file with no luck. I get the message that the jp2 file does not appear to be a valid JPEG2000 file, and afterwards that the xml file itself "does not appear to be a valid Sentinel-2 file". Both messages appeared before and after I edited the xml file.
I'm using ENVI 5.3 on Windows 7 Enterprise. Any help you can provide is appreciated.

If you go to Help->About ENVI does it show version as 5.3.1 or 5.3.2? There was a patch for both of these versions. You should contact support directly about this.

Thanks Mari. I applied the SP1 patch, but still find the same problem. I'll open a support ticket.
