Hello, I need to import images into R in TIFF format to conduct data analyses, but am having trouble converting from ENVI standard to TIFF in ENVI. I open the ENVI standard file in ENVI, go to file and save as and choose TIFF. The file's properties then say it is a TIFF, but I get an error in R, saying that the file is corrupt. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Itiya

What version of ENVI are you using? Is it ENVI or ENVI Classic? Some programs do not support TIFF files that are more than 3 bands or a data type other than byte so I wonder R has that limitation. If so, in ENVI 5.3 you can save a 3 band image to TIFF if you display the image and go to File->Export View to->Image File and choose TIFF output.

I'm using ENVI 5.3. I tried exporting it as TIFF with only 3 bands, but R still says the file is corrupted or missing. Itiya

It sounds like R may be limited in TIFF support. Can your tiff be opened in Microsoft Photo Editor or other program? How large is the TIFF file? When I use File->Export View To->Image File and save a Landsat 8 3 band display to TIFF, I can open it in MS Photo editor (which only accepts simple byte-scaled 3 band TIFF images) with no issue so I believe it is a valid output file.
