Hello, I am a student working on a project for Craters of the Moon in Utah. We have been provided data from AVIRIS and HyMap and I am suppose to perform an Atmospheric and Geospatial Correction to the data. Once I have processed it then I need to use that data to determine different aspects of the ancient lava that exist there today. My problem is that I don't know where to begin with processing this data and I'm new to all of this. Can someone walk me through what I need to do to get the data processed so that I can move forward with my project? I will need step by step, detailed instructions on how to perform these tasks. Thank you. Chad

I would have a look at this tutorial for steps on how to open and perform an atmospheric correction with FLAASH in ENVI: http://www.harrisgeospatial.com/docs/... After atmospheric correction, you can georeference the data using the geometry bands that typically come with AVIRIS data (called IGM or GLT bands). You can use the Georeference from IGM or Georeference from GLT options in ENVI. https://www.harrisgeospatial.com/docs...

Is there a way to perform an atmospheric correction on AVIRIS data without using FLAASH? or a free 30 day subscription to FLAASH? The only thing I can find for doing the atmospheric correction is FLAASH and being a broke college student I don't have the funds. Thanks for your help. Chad

Are you using a University lab license? Perhaps they have access to the ACM module that you could use? The other options for atmospheric corrections are either Empirical Line which requires field spectra, or some relative corrections can be made using tools such as Flat Field, IAR or Log residuals. You can find more information about these tools in the ENVI online help under Preprocessing > Radiometric Correction Tools > Atmospheric Correction.
