Hi Mari,
This has been a problem for a while that I have never been able to solve. When I load a points shapefile into Envi, the points will only display as asterisks, or hollow points with no fill. There appears to be no option amongst all the different symbols in the legend, to have points with solid fill. I have tried multiple different combinations with the color table, and point styles and still no luck.
It makes locating points extremely difficult when overlayed on an image. There must be a way! Thanks Mari, or anyone who can help.
Alex

Are you using the ENVI 5.3 interface (not classic)? I can load a point shapefile in ENVI 5.3/5.4 and from the Layer Manager, right click on the shapefile and select Properties. Here I can choose from about a dozen point styles, a different color and a size.
How are you trying to change the shapefile properties?

Hi Mari
I have been using ENVI 5.4- non classic version. There are many point styles to select, but none appear to allow for the option of point fill. I attached an image showing how the points only display as hollow. I also attached links to an image from qgis showing the types of points I'd like to display in ENVI.
QGIS POINTS
ENVI POINTS
Thanks as always Mari

Yes, I see what you mean. I don't think there is the ability to fill a symbol in ENVI or in Classic. We have an older feature request for this and/or the ability to add custom symbols, but it has never been implemented.

Interesting. That's kind of surprising because really that's the standard way that most people like to view points. And because there is no boldness for the no-fill point borders it makes it quite tricky to visually locate points.
I hope that the envi folks can add this feature in the future! Thanks anyways Mari.
