Hello, I have downloaded Sentinel data from the scihub.copernicus website and I would like to open the ortho image with ENVI 5.3. In File>Open external file, I don't have the Sentinal-2A menu option. I can open the jpeg2000 file located in the "granule" directory from the File>Open image file menu option but it opens the image without any georeferencing. How can I open the image with the georeferencing? Thank you in advance for your help.

Are you able to upgrade your ENVI to the latest version - ENVI 5.4? Sentinel-2 support was not added until ENVI 5.3 SP1 and there were a couple of fixes after that due to changes in the data format. Also be sure to use ENVI and not ENVI Classic where support for Sentinel-2 was not added.

Thank you for your quick reply. Indeed, I was using ENVI classic. With ENVI, I have the following error message "file does not appear to be a valid Sentinel-2 file ..." . As indicated in a previous post on this forum, I moved the file to a shorter directory path , but I still have the error message. Unfortunately, I am not sure to be able to upgrade my ENVI. Are there other solutions?

It depends on when the data was produced. If the file names of the data are now the shorter length, it will require upgrading to ENVI 5.4 and getting a patch for that version. If it is the longer style file names, then there are patches for ENVI 5.3.1 (SP1) or ENVI 5.3.2 (SP2). You can contact your local office to request these patches to give them a try: supporteu@harris.com

Hi. I am using ENVI 5.3 to analyse Sentinel-2A imagey. However, each time I am trying to open the xml file, I got the same error message: "Unable to read file as as the specified type: SENTINEL 2.
    Thanks in advance.

There are a variety of reasons why Sentinel-2 data do not open as discussed in this help article:

    http://www.harrisgeospati...s-in-ENVI-53531.aspx

Sometimes it is caused by very long path names on Windows and it is also caused by a constantly changing XML format by various distributors. We are addressing these issues as they arise. The best option is to update your software to the latest version. ENVI 5.4 fixed several issues in ENVI 5.3 SP1/Sp2 and there will be further format fixes with the upcoming service pack for ENVI 5.4. If you still have ENVI 5.3 and are not able to upgrade to ENVI 5.4, then you should at least obtain the service pack for that version.
