I am interested to know how exactly indices as Red Edge Position Index are calculated. This index refers to the steepest slope within the range 690 nm to 740 nm. Is there a way to see the source code to check the calculation? Another question is how ENVI the bands select. Having CHRIS data the Vegetation Index calculator calculated the Structure Insensitive Pigment Index, which included the wavelength of 800 nm. However, I dont have a band at that wavelength available. So, on what logic took the calculation place?

I think ENVI gets the nearest wavelenght cetrer to the needed band for computing any VIs. By my experiences, I try to compute the VIs using "Band Math", it is more relible at least for myself. SH
