Greetings! I am currently looking into the various image enhancement tools available in ENVI and would appreciate if someone can give me guidance. I have a set of satellite images and there are some situations where I need to perform enhancement. They are: 1. Areas that are covered by cloud shadows and need to be dodged to bring out the features 2. Areas that are over-exposed and need to be "darkened" 3. Adjacent images in which one is taken on a "misty" day while the other is taken on a "sunny" day and both have to be averaged Are there any functions available in ENVI to perform the above operations? Please kindly enlighten me. Appreciate all help given. Thank you. Regards, Mun Shih

Try interactive stretching of the histogram RGB combos or individual bands, use the auto-apply option to see whats happening.

Dear Mun, What you want to do? An image mosaic for output purposes? Then you have to try various mosaic options. In case that you want to visually interpret your data try the followings: 1. Areas that are covered by cloud shadows. Move you main image window to an representative area Try to apply dynamic image enchancement (i suggest gaussian or square root enhancement). Enhancement applies to full image extent, so regions with normal reflectance conditions will appear over-exposed. 2. Areas that are over-exposed and need to be "darkened". Same with previous, similar problem. Dynamic enchancement drafts the data for histogram creation proportional with the source. For the best result for local enchancement define the zoom image extent to the problematic area and try Enchancement > Zoom [method], 3. If the adjacent images are still in separate files, try to make a mosaic, and define wich of them will be the base (fix) and set the other(s) to fix mode. Don't expect miracles! Regards, Phanis
