Hi all! So I just installed ENVI 52 + IDL84 on one of our laboratory's new computers. I copied a license file from one of our computers and it got IDL running. Now the problem. Everytime I try to run any of the "ENVI" apps, then xterm/xquartz loads and then briefly shows a terminal showing the licensing information before closing. Nothing happens. Below are details about my system and license: System: OS: Mac OS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 software version: ENVI 52 and IDL84 XQuartz 2.7.11 JRE build 1.6.0_65-b14-468 License: We have this network license-thing wherein we connect to a computer that has a "license server" (i think). Coincidentally, the server machine has ENVI 51 running on it. There was some sort of fear that our whole license system will go crazy if we try upgrading the server machine. Our laboratory purchased the ENVI licenses (perpetual) back in 2014. I wasn't around that time so I don't have all the details. Anyway, I copied the license.dat from one of our old computers to the new one (apparently the old computer has the same problem as well). The license was purchased from our country's distributor of ENVI products. Each time ENVI/IDL gets a new version, they send a license file and the latest installer for Windows. We were able to install the ENVI 52 versions because I was able to request one from Harris 2-3 years ago (or whoever was running the show back then). I couldn't find my previous post. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the license number here though. For the problem: Is there anything wrong with my settings? Do I need to upgrade my OS or any of the following softwares? Alternatively, I'm also thinking of upgrading to ENVI 5.3 and IDL 85. These are the latest versions that we have on our Windows machines. However, we don't have installers for MacOS. For some reason, the company where we purchased the ENVI products are not replying to our e-mails. If anyone, can direct me to a link to MacOS installers I can try that as well. Your help is much appreciated! Thank you!
