    Dear Sir/Madam£¬ I have some SPOT-vegetation NDVI files, which format is *.hdf. ENVI 4.2 can read them easily. But these file have not projection. They have the same README files as following: PRODUCT_ID V1KRNS10__19990101E BAND_REF B3 QUICK_LOOK_BAND NDV MAP_PROJ_NAME PLATE_CARREE_1KMG nom provisoirement egal au code MAP_PROJ_FAMILY UNPROJECTED MAP_PROJ_CODE PLATE_CARREE_1KMG MAP_PROJ_UNIT DEGREES MAP_PROJ_RESOLUTION 0.0089285714 GEODETIC_SYST_NAME WGS 1984 GEODETIC_SYST_CODE WG84 HORIZ_DATUM WGS 1984 MERIDIAN_NAME GREENWICH MERIDIAN_ORIGIN +000.000 SPHEROID_NAME WGS 1984 SPHEROID_SEMI_MAJ_AXIS 6378137.000 SPHEROID_SEMI_MIN_AXIS 6356752.314 CARTO_UPPER_LEFT_X 68.000000 CARTO_UPPER_LEFT_Y 55.000000 CARTO_UPPER_RIGHT_X 147.000000 CARTO_UPPER_RIGHT_Y 55.000000 CARTO_LOWER_RIGHT_X 147.000000 CARTO_LOWER_RIGHT_Y 5.000000 CARTO_LOWER_LEFT_X 68.000000 CARTO_LOWER_LEFT_Y 5.000000 CARTO_CENTER_X 107.500000 CARTO_CENTER_Y 30.000000 CARTO_HEIGHT 50.000000 CARTO_WIDTH 79.000000 GEO_UPPER_LEFT_LAT +055.000000 GEO_UPPER_LEFT_LONG +068.000000 GEO_UPPER_RIGHT_LAT +055.000000 GEO_UPPER_RIGHT_LONG +147.000000 GEO_LOWER_RIGHT_LAT +005.000000 GEO_LOWER_RIGHT_LONG +147.000000 GEO_LOWER_LEFT_LAT +005.000000 GEO_LOWER_LEFT_LONG +068.000000 IMAGE_UPPER_LEFT_ROW 1 IMAGE_UPPER_LEFT_COL 1 IMAGE_UPPER_RIGHT_ROW 1 IMAGE_UPPER_RIGHT_COL 8849 IMAGE_LOWER_RIGHT_ROW 5601 IMAGE_LOWER_RIGHT_COL 8849 IMAGE_LOWER_LEFT_ROW 5601 IMAGE_LOWER_LEFT_COL 1 IMAGE_CENTER_ROW 2801.0 IMAGE_CENTER_COL 4425.0 GEOM_CHAR_REF V1_G_000_1998_03_30_05.PCI GEOM_BAND_REF B3 DEM_REF dtm_vgt_system_proj DEM_DATE 19971205 USE_GCP P RADIOM_EQUAL_REF V1_E_024_1998_12_07_01.PCI RADIOM_ABS_CAL_REF V1_A_000_1998_12_01_01.PCI SYNTHESIS_NOM_DATE 19990101 SYNTHESIS_FIRST_DATE 19990101010212 SYNTHESIS_LAST_DATE 19990110232810 ATMOS_CORREC_REF CTIV_SMAC_V3.2 CLOUD_COVER_REF CTIV_CLOUD_COVER_V1.0 SNOW_COVER_REF CTIV_SNOW_ICE_COVER_V1.0 SYNTHESIS_REF CTIV_SYNTHESIS_V1.0 PRODUCTION_DATE 20010823 I have searched some information about the MAP_PROJ_NAME PLATE_CARREE_1KMG. It is Equirectangular in fact. I also found it in ENVI. So I did as fowllowing: 1. read HDF file by ENVI; 2. edit the head file of HDF in ENVI, mainly the Map info section; 3. I give the parameters according the READNE files. 4. finished. However, when I finished it and reload the HDF file. Some questions appear: When I have the Cursor Location/value, it is as following: Disp #1 (5617,3178) Scrn: R:188 G:188 B:188 Projection: VGT_NDVI_proj Map: 118.15E,26.63N Degrees LL : 0D 0'0.86"N, 0D 0'3.83"E Data: 161 LL is right? How do I to have the right value?? Thank you very much. Have a nice day HUI F.M.

It sounds like you might need to create a custom projection based on the Equirectangular template available in ENVI. If you go to Map->Customize Map Projections and select Equirectangular, you are prompted to enter the following information: - Sphere Radius - False Northing - False Easting - Latitude of true scale (where there is no distortion) - Longitude of central meridian Equirectangular, as it exists in ENVI, is a blank slate. Filling in the above values, which will be specific to your map projection, and saving the result as a new custom projection should give you more accurate results. If you do not know these values, you might try contacting the data provider. It sounds like a very specialized projection. Once the map projection is created, you can go into the ENVI header and edit the Map Information to assign the new custom projection (and a WGS-84 datum) to the file. Remember to save the open data to a new ENVI format file so the map information is preserved. Otherwise, you will have to assign it again the next time you open the HDF.
