annotations not working

    I'm making some figures and want to export a color bar with my image. I have loaded a greyscale layer and changed the color scheme. When I click on the annotations button the menu is not showing up. This just started today (April 11, 2022). Last week I was able to use the same image for a figure and the annotations worked normally.

    You might try moving/deleting the .idl directory from your HOME. For example, on windows this is:
    C:\users\mminari\.idl
    When you launch ENVI, it will be re-created 'fresh' and may clear up any configuration conflicts.
    In IDL, go to Window->Preferences->IDL->Graphics and switch to software rendering. Then launch ENVI:
    IDL>e=envi(/debug)

    Try the process and see if your menu shows up as expected.
