I'm not sure what happened to my other thread, it appears to have been somewhat mangled on page 2! I'll repeat what I posted there. I'm new to LiDAR and am trying to view our strips in ENVI. The data is currently in .all ASCII format with 9 fields, of which fields 2-5 are x, y, z and i from the last pulse and fields 6-9 are the corresponding values for the first pulse. When trying to use the 'ASCII to LAS' function I downloaded as part of the LiDAR Tools from the code library, using the 'In File' option as I assumed it was a default, I got an error message. Can anyone offer me any helpful pointers as to how to approach converting the data so I can view it? I guess I'm doing something wrong but can't put my finger on it. Thanks, Chris Wilson, University of Chester, UK

You might try contacting the author of the LiDAR toolkit directly. He's very nice and would probably appreciate hearing about the issues you're running into. His email address should be obtainable via the Code Contribution entry for the toolkit by clicking on his name.

hi, Wilson you shoulld select the 'return 1' rather than 'in file' and the tools will be ok.
