How to insert a subset of one image into another using ENVI Classic
This Help Article discusses one method of how to insert a subset of one image into another using ENVI Classic.
This method of replacing image data with a subset of data from another image requires the use of ENVI’s Mask functions before combining the image data in a mosaic.
The following steps can be used to perform this task:
1) Open the image from which you want to extract a subset
2) Build a ROI which corresponds to the subset of the image you want to extract
3) Save this ROI
4) Select Basic Tools -> Masking -> Build Mask
a. Select the display on which the image and ROI are displayed
b. Import the ROI from the Option menu
c. Save this mask
5) Select Basic Tools -> Masking -> Apply Mask
a. Select the image from which you want to extract a subset
b. Select the mask built at the previous step
c. In the Apply Mask Parameters dialog, select a value for the Mask Value (0 for example)
d. Save the masked image subset in a file
6) Go to Map -> Mosaïcking -> Georeferenced
7) Import the image in which you want to insert the image subset
8) Import and Edit Properties of the masked image subset built previously using the Apply Mask tool.
The subset of data of the first image is now inserted in the second image.
