Principal Scientist, Huntsville, AL

We have an opening for a Principal Scientist  to provide a unique bridging role between new and emerging customer requirements and business capture.  You will work with customers to identify, develop and prototype innovative ideas in geospatial data processing, exploitation and visualization to support mission goals.  You will support the Sales team in developing proposals and creating new prototyping capabilities for core VIS products (ENVI/IDL, Jagwire, ENVI LIDAR, among others).

 

A current and active TS/SCI clearance is required.  Some travel is required.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

·       Grow new revenue capture opportunities for product growth with current and existing customers

·       Collaborate with Exelis VIS and Exelis GS IR&D project teams in a leadership role within the Products Segment to define new and emerging customer requirements leading to revenue capture

·       Provide monthly status reports to the Products Segment GM and Product Management teams on new and emerging requirements for customers, to support Product Management decisions on the prioritization of product features and capabilities in software design and engineering

·       Provide technical and strategic guidance on the implementation of new ideas and prototype concepts, as well as interact directly with Engineering and Product Management, as required

·       Serve as a Senior Technical Advisor to the Products Segment GM on core product technology initiatives in fulfilling customer requirements and aligning with business capture priorities

 

What You’ll Need:

 

·       Strong background in Professional Services

·       Ability to design prototypes

·       Deep knowledge of ENVI and related VIS products

·       Experience working in business capture

·       15 years of professional experience in geospatial product sales, software engineering, software development, and/or product management

·       Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline of engineering, or in a technical area of science and research
