Running IDL code from ENVI

Are you in the middle of an ENVI session and want to run some IDL code? Wish you had ENVI+IDL open instead, and you don’t want to restart ENVI? This utility will allow you to run IDL code from an ENVI-only session.

Note that you still need to have a valid ENVI+IDL license to use this feature.

For ENVI 4.8: place the run_idl_code.sav file in your /save_add directory. Restart ENVI, there will be a new “Run IDL Code” entry under “Window” on the main menu.

For ENVI 5.0: place run_idl_code.sav in your /envi50/extensions/ directory. Restart ENVI, there will be a new “Run IDL Code” entry under “Extensions” in the toolbox.
