Technical Writer, Boulder CO

The technical writer creates content to help users understand our Exelis VIS products.  This individual is responsible for documentation projects such as user manuals, installation manuals, help documents, and tutorials. The qualified candidate must be able to work independently and take technical direction from the Project Manager. This is a temporary, part-time position.

What You’ll Do: 

• Research, outline, and create large sections of documentation.
• Assist in the design and implementation of printed and electronic user guides and context-sensitive help systems.
• Develop expertise in one or more aspects of the products being documented.
• Complete work in accordance with the Agile Scrum Process.
• Work closely with software engineers and other team members to gain an understanding of the documented functionality.
• Research new functionality as needed.
• Assist in the validation and derivation of Product and Functional requirements .

What We’re Looking For: 

• Understanding of documentation process and software development process.
• Proven experience with an HTML editor such as MS Sharepoint and HTML Help Workshop or other help authoring software.
• Bachelor’s Degree in technical writing, English, or the Sciences; or equivalent experience required.
• 3-5 years technical writing experience.
• Experience with localization highly desired.
• Experience with IDL or ENVI highly desired.
