SENSORS AND SATELLITES

IKONOS

from DigitalGlobe

The IKONOS sensor was the first commercially available submeter resolution sensor, having been launched in September, 1999. While capturing at a slightly lower resolution than its successors, IKONOS imagery was the first of its kind, and offers the best archive of high resolution historical satellite data available. However, like QuickBird, the IKONOS satellite stopped collecting imagery as of December, 2014.
