Internal: Information about the memory capability of VIS product HASP devices

This article presents details about the memory capability information (there is *no* programmable memory) about the HASP license dongle device that VIS uses for HASP style licensing.

Discussion:

VIS uses Aladdin "HASP4 Standard" license dongle devices for ENVI HASP licensing. The ENVI HASP device is hard-wired for VIS. There is no programmable memory. The devices cannot be reprogrammed. There is only one type of ENVI HASP device, which are all functionally identical. That is, the license.dat file information that will work with the ENVI HASP is customized per customer and release version of ENVI, but any ENVI HASP will work with any valid ENVI HASP license.dat file.

Regarding memory size of "HASP4 Std." device ("no memory"), see the first line entry in Table 1.1 "HASP Models" on page 9 of the of the HASP_PG.pdf document (HASP4 Programmer's Guide, version 12, © Aladdin Knowledge Systems, 2003).
