Hi, I've just installed IDL 7.0/ENVI 4.5 on my new OpenSuSE 11.0 machine and I'm having a bit of a problem. I'm trying to run the license wizard and I can't read any of the text on the screen, it all appears as a series of squares. I'm guessing it's using the wrong font, but can anyone tell me how I fix this? Cheers! Here's a screenshot of the problem: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/simonpro/Screenshot.png

We have seen this a few times with OpenSuse 11. It seems that SUSE 11 is giving Motif some default fonts that are not working. Try selecting a different font. For example: 1. Open IDL command line. Type: a=xfont() Now you will need to navigate without being able to see the names, but you can search for new fonts to experiment with to find a good default. 2. Put this in .Xdefaults file that is located in your home directory. Include in that file the following line: Idl*fontList: where is the font name that you selected in step 1. If you find difficult to find a font using step 1, try the following in your .Xdefaults file: Idl*fontList: -adobe-courier-bold-o-normal--10-100-75-75-m-60-iso8859-9
