Please help! I am using IDL 8.4 on Debian Wheezy system for a few years. Recently encountered this problem in starting up IDL. The error message is: /usr/local/exelis/idl/bin/bin.linux.x86_64/idl: error while loading shared libraries: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Now the IDL cannot run anymore. Anybody please help on this? Best regards,

You likely need to install the libXp libraries. Have a look at this post:
