Hi--I have some ASTER imagery that I'm using for a research project. It is my understanding that the ASTER imagery is projected using the WGS 84 ellipsoid, and when I bring it into a product like ArcGIS or Grass, this is what I get. However, for some reason when I import the image into ENVI, it registers as 1927. When I reproject in some other software package back to WGS84, the projection is misaligned. Could anyone tell me why the ASTER imagery defaulting to 1927 projection? Thanks very much! Steve

What version of ENVI are you using? In both ENVI 4.4 and 4.3, ASTER data is referenced with the WGS-84 datum. In any case, you would not want to reproject the image with a new datum, you would want to edit the header to reflect the true datum that the image is in. You can do this via Edit ENVI Header ->Edit Attributes ->Map Info... Change Projection and select the correct datum, which should be WGS-84.
