It may be the JRE you are using.  There is information on obtaining the correct JRE in the Release Notes for IDL and also in this tech tip: http://www.ittvis.com/ser...echtip.asp?ttid=4442

Thanks a lot. I also installed a lot of packages that sound as java, C++, etc. However, now it seems does work!! This bad link is a known issue with IDL 7.0.6.  It is fixed in IDL 7.0.8 which comes with the ENVI 4.6.1 distribution.  The rest of the help should work as expected.  To view the release notes, you will have to manually open the text file that comes in the IDL distribution under \itt\idl706.
