evf to AOI error

i've been trying to convert a polygon shapefile to AOI. what i did is to convert the shape to evf. From there, I opened the vector window viewer -->File--> Export Active Layer to AOI.. The error says "None of the objects from this vector layer transferred to an ROI associated with the input file". Can anyone help? Thanks.

ROIs must be associated with an image. Does the shapefile overlay on the image? If not, then the ROIs will not transfer correctly.
