I downloaded MODIS surface reflectance 8d L3 global 250m grid data. When I loaded to ENVI and looked at the values, they are from 0-2 (I just looked at a bunch of locations with the cursor within an image). When I loaded the same image to ERDAS, the values are 6000 to 8000, which are what I expected because they are the %ref times 100. I don't know why the two softwares gave me such different values? Which one should I believe? I'll very appreciate if anyone has experience with this and can help me. Thanks very much!

Is your data the same as described here (MOD09Q1)? https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/lpdaac/products/modis_products_table/surface_reflectance/8_day_l3_global_250m/v5/terra This data comes in HDF format and when opened in ENVI (4.7) displays floating point reflectance in values of approximately 0-1.0 (with some negative and some more than 1).  This is because the Auto-correct modis/aster option is 'on' in the ENVI Preferences (under the Misc tab).  If you turn this off, ENVI will not automatically apply the scaling factor and the bands will be displayed in the original signed integer format.
