Can IDL be used to read and manipulate an OpenEXR format (.exr) file?  OpenEXR is a high dynamic-range (HDR) image format (http://www.openexr.com/index.html).  So far I've been unable to find any reference to using .exr files in IDL.  I will appreciate any guidance/suggestions.  Thanks.
