I have a fresh new installation of IDL 7.1, in a 32bits Ubuntu 7.04 Intel QuadCore Platform.  When I start the help system (either with idlhelp from the system or with ? in IDL) it opens a window and says 127.0.0.1 could not be found. Please check the name and try again. And that's all (the window remains open, but white).  My system is well configured, I can ping to 127.0.0.1 or digg to it also.    Somebody can help me?  Thanks,                             Guigue

Hi Guigue, I had a similar problem with my ENVI help files that you descrived. It turned out that some paths to folders needed to be specified (i.e. replaced) from @user.home to hard-coded folder paths.  Among those were: ITT\IDL70\idlde\configuration\config.ini itt\idl70\idlde\idlhelp.ini According to my last email conversation with an ITTVIS support person, a tech tip should be out somewhere about this problem. If you have access to their support system, they should be able to help you with details. Good luck. Mike
