Hi, I am still having trouble running IDL and connecting to a C program. However, I have made progress. I run make_dll and a shareable library is created. Then I run the IDL program and at the first Call_external I get the following error: % CALL_EXTERNAL: Error loading sharable executable. Symbol: _InitAstro, File = /Users/rebeccalbishop/.idl/idl_6_0_darwin_ppc_m32_f32/ compile_dir/Astro.so symbol not found. I have tried deleting the _ prior to InitAstro and that crashes IDL. I am running Mac OSX. IDLDE is running in an X11 window. HELP!!!

I hesitate writing this at RSI's own site, but it from my experience, the level of community support for IDL users is much higher on the IDL/PVWave newsgroup. There is a whole bunch of rather knowledgable and most helpful folks on it. You can see it via Google at http://groups.google.com/...omp.lang.idl-pvwave. The one drawback is that in order to post, you have to submit to google your email account, and thus expose yourself to spam. One answer to that is to create a thrash e-mail account with which to register, and thus all the spam will go into that one and not the one you value. Mirko PS. RSI -- it may be useful to the user community to somehow merge these two groups.
