Hi All, I've recieved ASTER data in L1B format as a set of GEOTIFF images and I'm trying to stack them in ENVI. I used GRASS to patch the images since I'm using two reticules for the study area and exported the images as GEOTIFFs for use in ENVI. All of the SWIR bands were opened succesfully in ENVI, but I'm having trouble with the VNIR and TIR bands. Both the VNIR and TIR bands were read by ENVI as if they are in ENVIs BIP format and as if they are RGB images instead of single bands. I adjusted the headers in the VNIR files to reflect what they actually are and ENVI seems to be okay with that correction (the images display correctly). However, in the case of the TIR images, before and after adjusting the headers, ENVI displays the TIR images as if they are just uniform planes with the same RGB values for each pixel (which I can see with the image value/location tool). I think the problem might stem from the fact that TIR images are in 16bit unsigned format while the other two bandwidths are in 8bit unsigned, but I would think that ENVI is prepared to handle either. Any ideas about what I sould do? Thanks, Chris

Apparently, if you use the GRASS eport Gdal tool, you can select ENVI as a file format. The newly exported VNIR and TIR .tif files are being read correctly by ENVI. It's strange that ENVI would be able to read some, but not others exported as plain GeoTIFF files from GRASS, but at least there seems to be a solution. Chris
