Hi all, I am using IDL 8.0.1 under Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion. In the first 2 weeks the Preference dialog box in the IDLDE worked well, but one week ago it suddenly failed. Neither clicking the 'Preference' button in the 'IDL' menu nor using the shortcut 'cmd+,' could launch the preference dialog box. So now I can't modify properties of the developing environment and IDL itself. I tried restarting the IDLDE, IDL and rebooting the computer but the problem is still there. Anyone to share this problem? Thank you.

Maybe there is something wrong with workbench metadata. Could you try open the IDL workbench using the "-clean" switch. To do this, open a terminal window, source the IDL setup file, and enter the following command into the terminal: idlde -clean Another possibility is that the workspace may have been corrupted. To test if this is case, you can rename the current default workspace directory and a new workspace will be created when the workbench is launched. You can also specify the name of a new workspace using the "-data" switch.
